Round Up – 19th June
Monday, June 29th, 2015
Well, what a weekend we had in Wakefield.
Long Divisions 5th year was a fantastic weekend of live music, beginning on Friday with a greatest hit’s show from a noticeably fired up British Sea Power, continuing onto Saturday with a stunning performance from Sam Airey in the Theatre Royal, some stage diving and a bit of vomit from those Brawlers followed, while an impressive assault from Pulled Apart By Horses and Ash playing a rapturously received set full of hits from their increasingly mighty back catalogue ended our day.
This week also saw us announce City Of Industry, a new summer showcase from Northern Monk & a bevy of partners from across Leeds & Yorkshire. City Of Industry will take place at the Northern Monk Refectory on the weekend of the 14th – 16th August. Initially a collaboration between Northern Monk Brew Co and Leeds based promoter and festival High & Lonesome, City Of Industry quickly grew to include a formidable list of Leeds’ independents and individuals from across Food, Beer and the Arts.
The launch party will take place on Friday 14th August and feature sets from DJ Format, Fingathing and Get Machine, Destroy! The party will also see the launch of a new exhibition of artwork curated by Drew Millward and Colours May Vary, which will run for two weeks. Breweries attending City Of Industry include; Yeastie Boys, Edge Brewing, Cloudwater and, of course, Northern Monk.
Ahead of the reissue of four of their albums through Music For Nations, Swedish Metal legends Spiritual Beggars, Per Wilberg picked 25 extraordinary tracks that paved the way for Spiritual Beggars for Classic Rock.
Finally, 2nd release weekend tickets for The Garden Party at The Tetley have sold out, so make sure you get yours in quick! Leeds Indie Food also continued to announce an expertly curated line up of food for this years event, adding Boozy Q, Northern Bloc & Bahn Mi Booth to the fold.
And now, we’re off to Holland for Best Kept Secret. It never stops. Thank Goodness.
