Anathema
Formed in 1990, Liverpool’s Anathema have released 10 albums across their career. Originally starting out as a doom band their music has continued to grow and evolve with each record moving through to more alternative and progressive sounds and the use of more electronica on their most recent release ‘distant satellites’. This was the first album we worked on with the band in 2014 for Kscope achieving very positive reviews and features across the rock/metal press such as Metal Hammer, Classic Rock, Prog Magazine, Kerrang, Terrorizer, Rock A Rolla, Rock Sound and Record Collector. Though while the band’s musical history is very much in the rock/metal world we also wanted to reach out to magazines and sites outside of this sphere to help Anathema hit news audiences who may appreciate their music. The result was a 5/5 album review in the Guardian, an interview with The Independent who also ran an exclusive stream of the album, alongside positive reviews from sites such as Drowned in Sound and The Quietus. ‘distant satellites’ ended up being the band’s most successful album to date reaching 32 in the UK album charts (their highest ever position) and their UK tour to support the release was sold-out most nights.
More recently this has been followed with features on Noisey, Huffington Post, Artrocker and Drowned in Sound while the band also picked up ‘Best Anthem’ at the Prog Magazine awards.
