Leeds craft beer bar Black Swan is on the search for UK home brew heroes as they launch a new Home Brew Competition. With a host of great prizes to be won, applicants need to get a move on and register by 23rd August to be in with a shout. Not only will the winner get to brew their beer on Black Swan’s shiny new Brewkit, they’ll also be the star of the taps during Oktoberfest and receive a 30-litre keg to wash down their winnings. It’s time for home brewers to bring their beery creations out of the garage and into the limelight.

After registering at www.blackswanleeds.co.uk, contestants need to brew up three bottles of their take on an English beer inspired by German styles, perfect for celebrating Oktoberfest. All beers need to be submitted to Black Swan by 27^th August with the overall winner will be announced on 7^th September.

The beers will be judged by some of the leading lights of our craft beer scene: Luke Raven from Ilkley Brewery and founder of Half Full Beer Co; Cody Barton from local specialist beer shop, Tall Boys Beer Market and Stuart Pearson from independent craft beer distributor James Clay.

Black Swan’s home brew competition hopes to showcase some local talent in the lead up to the world’s greatest beer festival, Oktoberfest.
We’re also proud to have our good friend Luke Raven on our panel of judges alongside expert tasters James Clay. Our panel also welcomes Cody from Tall Boys Beer Market who, like us, are exciting newcomers to the Leeds craft beer scene.”

Entry Requirements:

• Brew an English beer inspired by German styles
• Beers to be submitted in 500ml bottles with crown caps
• Three bottles per entry
• All brews must have an ABV between 4% and 5.5%.
• Please attach a Beer Label with a rubber band to each submission
• Please include your name, email address, telephone number and brew recipe along with your beer.
• Unfortunately beers cannot be returned. Please package the beers carefully and deliver to:
